Track 4:         Trust You

I was going to school at the University of Minnesota, Morris where I was visiting in class one morning with my friend, Heidi. Her mom was dying of cancer, and though her faith was stricken, she was unmoved. "God is good," she said. I went home that afternoon thinking of similar scenarios in my life, or in the lives of others who had the same resolve (my mom wasn't dying of cancer, and my dad hadn't walked away, but my friend...) and wrote this song about the nature of faith. Especially in an atmosphere of logical analyzation and questioning where faith is often under the gun. We recorded it a few months later at Dave's place in a little room with two mics.

Trust You

by Jeremy Erickson

What about my mom who's dying of cancer?

What about my dad who walked away?

What about my friend who used to love You?

What about the things he used to say?

It's more than emotion in a moment.

And I understand that they don't get it.

I can't explain, but I can trust in You.

I trust You.

What about a let-down in my story?

What about my faithless yesterday?

What about the days I've felt so lonely?

What about the way I feel today?

It's more than emotion in a moment...

I can't explain why sometimes You seem so distant,

When all life's trials get me down.

I can't explain how I can do nothing but trust You.

Seems You've got my heart somehow.

What about a world that needed saving?

What about a God who came to die?

What about a love that's so amazing?

What about the tears I'll never cry?

It's more than emotion in a moment...
