Track 15:         Your Lullaby

Again, a rather difficult time of my life. "Your Lullaby" is essentially a journal entry I scribed while sitting in the on-campus cafe at the U of M, Morris. It was late winter, and I was feeling quite glum watching the snow fall in clumps from the trees across the street. There was so much noise inside me - so much confusion, hurt, guilt, and fear - at that specific time of my life, that I simply desired God to bring both peace and progress (that I wouldn't rise from rest to find all the conflict unresolved). He ministered to me in such a way that I saw His peace as progress - that in our rest, He does His best work (Isaiah 30:15). Recorded at Dave's just days later.

Your Lullaby

by Jeremy Erickson

Please, Your lullaby,

falling from the sky.

And the tears You cry,

with Your lullaby.

Please, Your lullaby.

Sovereign God, be gentle,

but do not leave me unchanged.

Consuming fire of divinity,

pure and holy flame...

swell into my insides,

burst into my violence,

sing Your song of progress,

cradle me in silence.

Please, Your lullaby...

Do I dare call You father?

Do I dare to bear Your name?

Seems I only disappoint You.

Seems I only bring You shame.

So swell into my insides,

burst into my violence,

sing Your song of progress,

cradle me in silence.

Please, Your lullaby...
