Track 12:         Your Dwelling Place

My little sister got married. For her wedding, she asked me to sing a psalm - this psalm. After watching my dad walk her down the aisle (it seemed to me quite blurry, by the way) she took to the altar with her groom. I walked to the piano, propped my little NIV open in front of me, and sang what I saw while I played what I felt. We tried to capture that moment with this recording, but I'm not so sure moments like that are meant to be captured. The dwelling place of God is a mighty thing.

Psalm 84 (Your Dwelling Place)

Music by Jeremy Erickson

How lovely is Your dwelling place, O Lord.

My soul, it longs, and even faints for the courts of the Lord.

My heart and my flesh cry out for the Living God.

Even the sparrow has found her home.

The swallow has found her nest.

Where she can live and breathe and have her young.

A place where she may rest.

A place near Your altar - O God Almighty

My King and my God.

Blessed are those whose strength is in You,

Who have set their hearts on being brave.

As they pass through the valley,

They make it a place of springs.

They go from strength to strength,

Til each one stands before God in Zion.

Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere.

The Lord is a sun and shield - no good thing does He withhold.

O Lord Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in You.
